چکیده

colloid carcinoma, also called mucinous carcinoma, is classified as a histologic variant of adenocarcinoma. because the colloid carcinoma of the biliary tree is exceedingly rare, the imaging characteristics and the clinical features of colloid carcinoma remain relatively unknown. we report a case of colloid carcinoma of the common bile duct and its accompanied metastatic lymphadenopathies with characteristic imaging findings reflecting abundant intratumoral mucin pools. the patient is a previously healthy 52-year-old woman who presented with dyspepsia for two months. multiple imaging modalities including ultrasound, computed tomography (ct), and magnetic resonance imaging (mri) showed diffuse bile duct dilatation with an obstructive lesion of the distal extrahepatic biliary duct (ehd) as well as two masses in the peripancreatic area. the peripancreatic masses appeared cystic with posterior acoustic enhancement on ultrasound, low density on ct imaging, and high signal intensity on t2-weighted mri. the lesion in the distal ehd exhibited similar characteristics on ct and mri. a whipple procedure was performed and histological specimens showed malignant cells with large mucin pools that was consistent with a diagnosis of colloid carcinoma of the ehd with metastatic lymphadenopathies.

Although the involvement of liver, spleen, bowel, and mesenteric lymph nodes is commonly seen in miliary tuberculosis, tuberculosis affecting only the peripancreatic lymph nodes is a rare clinical entity (1). Correct diagnosis is crucial in establishing adequate management and treatment. Its occurrence may pose a diagnostic challenge due to its similarity with a pa...

Unilocular Extrahepatic Biliary Cystadenoma Mimicking Choledochal Cyst: A Case Report

We report here on a case of extrahepatic biliary cystadenoma arising from the common hepatic duct. A 42-year-old woman was evaluated by us to find the cause of her jaundice. Ultrasonography and CT showed a cystic dilatation of the common hepatic duct and also marked dilatation of the intrahepatic duct. Direct cholangiography demonstrated a large filling defect between the left hepatic duct and ...

Case report: A Metastatic Transitional Cell Carcinoma of the Ovary

Background: Transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) is a rare type of ovarian epithelial cancer. This type of ovarian cancer accounts for only 1% of superficial epithelial carcinomas. Ovarian cancer is a major clinical challenge in obstetrics and gynecology. The reason of this is the lack of specific symptoms for ovarian cancer before the recurrence and progression of the tumor, so many cases are not...

Metastatic breast carcinoma mimicking a sebaceous gland neoplasm: a case report

INTRODUCTION Breast cancer is common in women and its metastases involve the skin in approximately one quarter of patients. Accordingly, metastatic breast cancer shown to be cutaneous through histology must be distinguished from a wide variety of other neoplasms as well as the diverse morphologic variants of breast cancer itself. CASE PRESENTATION We report the case of a 61-year-old Caucasian...
